What is the GMAT?

GMAT Eligibility

Age
Candidates must be at least 18 years old. Those aged 13 - 17 need written permission from a parent or guardian.
Education
No specific academic qualification is required, but the test is designed for candidates aiming for graduate-level business programs.
Attempts
1. A maximum of 5 attempts per year.
2. A lifetime limit of 8 attempts.
3. Candidates must wait 16 days between attempts.

Types of GMAT

There are no "types" of GMAT, but candidates can choose between:

GMAT Online :

Conducted remotely with AI-based proctoring.

GMAT Test Center :

Conducted in a physical test center.

GMAT Exam Pattern

The GMAT is divided into four sections:

Analytical Writing Assessment(AWA)

    • Duration: 30 minutes.
    • Task: Analyze an argument and critique its reasoning.
    • Skills Assessed: Critical thinking, logical reasoning, and written communication.

Integrated Reasoning(IR)

  • Duration: 30 minutes.
  • Tasks:
    1. Multi-source reasoning.
    2. Table analysis.
    3. Graphics interpretation
    4. Two-part analysis.
  • Skills Assessed: Ability to evaluate information presented in multiple formats.

Quantitative Reasoning(QR)

    • Duration: 62 minutes.
    • Tasks:
      1. Problem-solving.
      2. Data sufficiency.
    • Skills Assessed: Mathematical reasoning and quantitative problem-solving.

Verbal Reasoning(VR)

  • Duration: 65 minutes.
  • Tasks:
    1. Reading comprehension.
    2. Critical reasoning.
    3. Sentence correction.
  • Skills Assessed: Grammar, reading skills, and critical reasoning.

GMAT Syllabus

Quantitative Section

Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and word problems. Data sufficiency and problem-solving questions.

Verbal Section

Grammar and sentence structure. Logical reasoning and reading comprehension.

Integrated Reasoning

Analyze complex data presented in charts, graphs, and tables.

Analytical Writing

Writing an essay to evaluate an argument.

Test Procedure

Before the Test:

  • Registration : Connect with our Experts.
  • Preparation : Use official GMAT prep materials and practice tests.
  • Choose Section Order : Three options for the sequence of sections.

On Test Day:

  • Arrive at the test center or log in for the online exam at least 30 minutes early.
  • Bring valid ID (passport preferred).
  • Follow the instructions and rules provided.

After the Test:

  • Preview your unofficial scores immediately after the test (Quant, Verbal, IR).
  • Official scores are available within 7 days.
  • Send scores to up to 5 institutions for free.
